AGJA letter to share with Prosecutor Clint Campion

AGJA letter to share with Prosecutor Clint Campion

Independent Prosecutor Campion, Thank you for speaking with me about the recent dismissal of the indictment against Judge Margearet Murphy. As discussed, the dismissal had nothing to do with whether or not Judge Murphy was in fact guilty of felony perjury to the Kenai Grand Jury, but was based on technical issues: A juror who went missing reduced the number of Grand Jury members below the required 12. The indictment was not specific enough. The Grand Jury was not given proper instructions. The Grand Jury was given inadmissible evidence. You agreed all these problems could be solved by simply giving…
HB384

Consider the impact writing a letter to your legislators could have- Sample by Mark Dundore

Mark Dundore writes in the strongest support possible of HB384. The following is an exerpt from Mark relating to grand juries. HB384 "An Act relating to grand juries; amending Rules 6(e), (i), (n), (p), (s), and (u), Alaska Rules of Criminal Procedure; and repealing Rules 6(j) and 6.1, Alaska Rules of Criminal Procedure." AGJA supports this bill. This absolutely needs to be passed and I urge you to make every effort to make it happen. I have been in the process of trying to obtain any report of a Grand Jury investigation in Anchorage.  I was informed by Kevin Kackman…

January 8 Alaska Judicial Corruption Court Hearing

January 8 Alaska Judicial Corruption Court Hearing

Third-district Presiding Judge Thomas Matthews denied Judge Murphy’s/Grand Jury Independent Prosecutor Campion's combined request to dispense with oral argument in the felony prosecution of Judge Murphy. The reason for the denial? Judge Matthews stated it is important this case is "transparent and open to the public." Thus, Alaska Grand Jury Association thinks it very important this time around to get everyone possible to attend oral arguments on Murphy's motion to dismiss. They are scheduled for 10am on Monday, January 8, 2024 in the Homer courthouse.   Several people are looking at staying at Lands End to ensure there are bodies in…
