YourAlaskaLink.com (ABC/Fox): Alaskans protest Supreme Court Order No. 1993

By Ian Stewart, Your Alaska Link –  Updated

One group of concerned citizens in Anchorage is one of many around Alaska protesting Supreme Court Order No. 1993. It’s a move many, like Todd Lindley, think it’s the court overstepping its power.

“The grand jury should be a place where a citizen could go and get justice. They’re going in and they’re allowed to investigate many different things. And so now that grand jury or that citizen doesn’t have that opportunity,” Lindley said.

While many protesting here have experienced this corruption, one case stands out. In July of 2022, a Kenai grand jury convened to investigate concerns of corruption in the judicial system, particularly of Marla Greenstein. The recent court order, however, suspended this investigation.

“One of the things that we’re trying to get answered out of this is why would the Alaska Supreme Court suspend an ongoing grand jury investigation in the middle of an investigation into judicial corruption?” Lindley said.

Thomas Garber, another concerned citizen, believes the Supreme Court’s order and other moves are too coincidental in further proving its corruption.

“The Supreme Court is doing it off the bench. You know, they’re just making the changes because they see the pressure that we’re putting on them, you know, that we’re bringing questions to what they’re doing and how they’re doing it,” Garber said.

The citizens stated they would continue to protest until the grand jury’s power to investigate corrupt officials is completely unsuspended.
